Constellation Federal Credit Union (CFCU) was established in 1944 with the Army Map Service. Since then it has been serving the employees and family members of successive legacy agencies in the Metro Area shoulder to shoulder through today’s National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. We’ve been conveniently located in our NGA sponsor’s facilities for as long as we’ve been in existence.
As you may already be aware, NGA is moving its offices to Springfield, Virginia on Ft. Belvoir's Engineering Proving Grounds at a location that is now being called NGA Campus East (NCE). Unfortunately, CFCU has not yet been granted a waiver to go with NGA to the NGA Campus East. There is a longstanding DoD regulation that limits the number of financial institutions on a military installation, but it allows for exceptions. For the past fiveyears, CFCU has been struggling to get an exception and as of April 22nd 2011, no exception has been granted.
If Constellation FCU does not get an exception to the DoD regulation, we will no longer be with our membership at their place of employment. If you believe that a practical case can be made that CFCU will not infringe on the financial services already established some three miles distance from NCE at the main Post at Ft. Belvoir, and that NGA’s move to NCE is a do-no-harm consequence of the BRAC legislation and shouldn’t penalize CFCU for wanting to remain with NGA, its sponsor for 67 years, then CFCU needs your help
